Georgie Rees

Pattern Cutting Specialist

We are really excited to introduce Georgie, who will be teaching Pattern Cutting at the Sewology Studio.

Georgie has never known a time without sewing being an important part of her life having grown up as a seamstress’s daughter. Georgie is from the local area and received a varied education at local institutions including textiles, art, fashion, and pattern cutting through Hereford Sixth Form College, Hereford Art College and Inkberrow Design Centre. She then went onto study Fashion and Textile Design at Winchester School of Art where she showed her final collection at Brick Lane in London.

After studying, Georgie worked in the Fashion Industry for 5 years in various roles including Workroom Coordinator, Seamstress, Design Assistant, Technician and Pattern Cutter. Clients included Marks and Spencers, Next, Eponine, Closet London, and London College of Fashion. Aware of the negative impact the industry is having on the planet Georgie chose to leave the industry and pass on her skills to others in the hope to encourage sustainable fashion consumption.

Throughout the pandemic she ran a London based charity teaching sustainable fashion and sewing to children and adults. Georgie enjoys passing on her passion for garment making and seeing the joy and empowering feeling it gives people when they put on something they have made themselves. She loves the challenge of pattern cutting and the chance to combine creative flair and technical skills to make designs and ideas become real.
